Okay! Let's talk about music!
There's never been anything that makes someone as unique as what kind of music they hold close to heart. For example I grew up having sing alongs to the classics like Carole King, Van Morrison, Simon and Garfunkel, and The Beatles. I also feel like I'm 5 years old again whenever I hear Green Day's Good Riddance or No Doubt's Just a Girl. Though I have zero musical talent I still love different genre's of music ranging from My Chemical Romance to Hillary Duff in my pre-teens and maintaining a constant love of Coldplay for 11 solid years!
Lately though I have found what I love more than anything are great lyrics, easy going harmonies, and female and male duets (such a popular trend right now with Grouplove, Of Monsters and Men, and Arcade Fire) with a definite indie-hipster vibe. And I'm the least bit hipster with my Lily Pulitzer phone case, and lust for the Real Housewives of Anywhere, but this genre of music is so addicting and fresh that a whole new kind of crowd would definitely find themselves searching for more. And that's exactly what I've done, been open to discovering new musicians who fit my design.
Last night I found just what I was looking for when I took a trip to Amoeba Music Store in Hollywood, a great spot for cheap new and used media, to see the up and coming five-some, Milo Greene. With 4 "frontmen"(3 male, 1 female) and 1 on drums, Milo Greene uncovers a new layer of depth in the way they craft their sound. Having heard only one of their songs prior to seeing them play live, I was struck by how pulled in to their lyrics and style of set I was. Pleasantly surprised, I vowed I would actually purchase this small bands album to give them a push up in the world of music. Check them out on their website here, Milo Greene, to hear tracks from their self titled album that was just released yesterday the 17th.
