Daily Dose of Inspiration

Marathon season has inspired me to get outside and get moving. Last night, during my first run in a long (long, long, long) time, my mantra was, "People run MARATHONS, so you can run a MILE!" helping me finish 2 and 1/2 miles. The strength and satisfaction that people get from running has become advantageous in the nonprofit sector for charities who understand that people want to fight for a cause not just simply pay for one. When a loved one's life is on the line, marathons and 100 mile hikes aren't even the limit on how hard people will fight.

Yesterday, I came across this commercial for Avon's 3 Day walk, a 60 mile trek benefitting breast cancer patients and survivors. This video has a multitude of meaning to me not only in that it inspired me to get in shape to help a cause that has closely affected my family, but it also helped me narrow down what I would be thrilled to devote my professional life to.

I admire what Advertising for Humanity has done in this campaign for the 3 Day walk, and how sorrow and loss is combatted with strength and the belief that some day we will end this disease. By playing emotion and action off of each other, the campaign attracts a vast amount of people who are suddenly inspired by emotion to stand up and battle anything that attacks humankind. With a little more focus in creating advertising like this, mankind can go a long (long, long, long) way.
